SAUJS at wits
Wits is one of the traditional homes of South African Jewish students. There is a strong tradition of Jewish activism on the campus and Wits is considered the country’s premier political campus. Therefore it is not surprising at all that there have been Jewish and Zionist societies on campus as long ago as 1926, a mere four years after the university was founded.
Today SAUJS is just as active as ever. We host interesting speakers, do interfaith events, have great socials, provide daily minyanim, participate in political debates, do outreach work, help get exams moved from Jewish holidays and fight anti-Zionism on campus.
There is a campus committee which is elected shortly after orientation week and deals with the campus events and all affairs relating to the Wits campus.
